this afternoon, i sat down with house democratic leader nancy pelosi. and she had something very interesting to say about the connection of the david petraeus scandal to some of these other issues. i'd love to get your response. hold on? all right. hold on. we'll be right back. >> what has triggered about informing the congress in any event, just talking about congress, does it have an impact on our national security? >> you think this did not rise to that level? ? maybe new buildings? what about updated equipment? they can help, but recent research shows... ... nothing transforms schools like investing in advanced teacher education. let's build a strong foundation. let's invest in our teachers so they can inspire our students. let's solve this. capella university understands back from rough economic times. employees are being forced to do more with less. and the need for capable leaders is greater than ever. when you see these problems do you take a step back, or do you want to dive right in? with a degree in business from capella university, you'll ha

nancy pelosi is expected to answer whether she's going to stay in her job. in a city where there aren't that many mysteries, this is a mystery. what are you hearing about what she may say? >> reporter: she was asked about this yesterday by reporters, so she's keeping us guessing. she did have a press conference yesterday with some of the new democrats in the house. she'll speak at 10:00 a.m. this morning. i think this sort of i forms speculation among democratic watchers on the hill that she's probably going to stay, but here's what she said yesterday when asked about it. >> see, what time is it now? it is 2:00. on tuesday i will see you right here at 10:00 tomorrow morning. while i love you all very dearly, i thought maybe i would talk to my up caucus before i shared that information with you. >> now she seemed kind of encouraged yesterday at that press conference because of some democratic gains in the house, obviously republicans are still in control there, but it's really also unclear who might succeed pelosi if she decides to forego the minority leaders

nancy pelosi, the leader of the democrats in the house and the first woman to ever be speaker of that body, today she announced that although with every single woman member of her caucus, all 60 of them, that she would put her name in to stay the leader to have the democrats in the house. as we tried to preview on this show last night, that was not a terrific surprise to anyone. what was a surprise, though, was the answer that leader pelosi gave to nbc's luke russert when he asked today whether she and the rescue of the democratic leadership should consider stepping aside, simply to make room for younger members. the first reaction to the question was that the women standing with her on that stage started booing the question, literally. but then she went on to answer. >> some of your colleagues privately say that your decision to stay on prohibits the party from having a younger leadership and will be -- and hurts the party in the long-term. what's your response? >> next! >> leader pelosi? >> i guess -- you always ask that question, except to mitch mcconnell. >> excuse me, you, mr. ho

a short time ago, a couple hours ago house majority whip kevin mccarthy said that nancy pelosi and the president are not on the same page. he referred to even the dollar amount of what is considered wealthy referring to the may proposal from pelosi at a million dollars or more as opposed to 250,000 we're talking about right now. is there divide? >> i think that right now we see a lot of positioning for the negotiations, but i've been one who has been in line with speaker pelosi or leader pelosi on that for a long time. that there's nothing sacrosakt about the $250,000 number. the white house is very, very strict about that. i think there are a lot of ways that we could negotiate somewhere between that number and incomes over a million dollars a year. i offered an amendment in the budget committee just to raise the tax rates back to clinton era rate on incomes over a million dollars. every republican voted against them. we'd love to talk about another number if the republicans were willing to talk about any number. >> that is an interesting point there. to further point out in this inte
